1994 Philophile PRC7701

Phil leads this 12-tune straight-ahead session done in Florida in June, 1994 with stellar musicians Duffy Jackson, drums; Roger Wilder, piano; and Todd Delgiudice, saxes & clarinet.

Featured are seven of Flanigan's original compositions and five jazz standards. Matt Schudel of the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel had this to say:  "The underappreciated Flanigan is one of the top 20 or so jazz bassists in the country.  Flanigan drives the music with his bass, but leaves room for the soloists.  His own solos are smooth and well-designed and his quirky compositions are filled with angled melodies, rhythmic surprise and tight ensemble work."

1996 Arbors Records ARCD 19157

Serving as a recorded example of Bunch & Flanigan's long-standing duo relationship, Struttin'contains 14 standards by writers as diverse as Oscar Pettiford, Benny Harris, and Frederic Chopin.

In the 80s, Bunch and Flanigan worked frequently in the Greenwich Village club scene as a duo in such places as Knickerbocker, Zinno, Village West, and numerous other locations further uptown.  During this time they developed a hard-swinging yet sensitive and melodic approach, attracting approving nods from many critics.

Voted one of the top 10 jazz records of 1996 by the Swiss Jazz Critics Association.
